DYSMANTLE Update #28: Version 1.4.0 - The Final Patch
The final major content update for DYSMANTLE is here! Version 1.4.0 brings Night Terrors, expanded regions, Steam Workshop support, and official modding tools.

Hello everyone and welcome to the notes for version 1.4.0, also called “The Final Patch.” After this update we consider the project to be finished and will enter maintenance mode. It has been a wild couple of years and we are proud of what we have managed to achieve with the game. As always, thank you to our fans for the continued support!
New Additions
Night Terrors
The base game map will now have “Night Terrors”, which will appear after day 24. These new enemies are tied to an additional elevator you might find inside Ark level 3. As for what, where and when, we’ll leave that for you to find out!
Expanded Regions
Both Frore and Hibernus regions have been expanded. Players can now open a shortcut between the two, with new sub-locations, POIs, and a food recipe to discover. Look for “Badnews Bay” for the initial entrance.
Quality of Life Improvements
- DLC owners can now use Link Towers to travel between the main map and DLC maps (requires compass invention and an open link tower in any DLC map)
- The game now remembers which monitor you selected in graphics settings
Modding & Steam Workshop
As we’re ceasing active development, we’re passing the torch to you, our fans!
- Modding Kit is now included in the game’s folder structure
- Create new content, edit maps, play with cheats, or even localize the game
- New “Mods” launch option and main menu button for easy mod management
- Steam Workshop support is now live - easier than ever to share modded content
Bugs, Balance & Buddies
Pet Improvements (DLC3)
- Pets can no longer push you down ravines (collision removed)
- Enemies will change targets from stunned pets to you
- Pets behave better and won’t destroy things you don’t want them to
- Lab Guardian boss replaced with a custom encounter (thanks to community moderator Arianna!)
Balance Changes
- Lockpicks are now cheaper
- Gas clouds can be evaporated by destroying nearby pipes
- Most larger buildings now have fire extinguishers
- Various weapon balance adjustments (Katana and Riot Shield buffs)
Bug Fixes
- Fixed several DLC quest progression issues
- Fixed main quest issues with certain “wrong order” completions
- Numerous UI improvements for various display resolutions
Final Thoughts
Kind of a weird feeling to be honest. At the same time there is a wistful sense of finality, but on the other hand a huge sense of relief as it is done. Literally done.
As for what’s next: In anticipation of ever more challenging projects we have increased our size from 10 people in 2020 to 14 now in 2024. We’re working hard on getting DYSPLACED ready for Early Access, plus another unannounced project.
Thank you all for being part of this journey!
